Carons Cards - September 19 Class

As usual, we had alot of fun at the card class on Wednesday night. I have missed those of you who have had to purchase kits lately, but understand that life is "busy" sometimes. Hope to see alot of you there next month!

Above you will see all the cards we made. Below are some close ups of each one. All of these cards are made using fall colours. I mentioned to those in class that any of them could be used as "Thanksgiving" cards also.

"THANKS SO MUCH" - this card is pretty easy to assemble. You are basically matting the "greeting". I used liquid glue to adhere the ribbon across the card. Tie the smaller pieces of ribbon in knots and glue dot them to the top of the card. Everyone in class loved the colours on this card and thought it would be great as a Thanksgiving Day card.

"THANK YOU" - This card is super easy to assemble. The multi-colored patterned paper is matted with the "chili" colored cardstock. I tied the ribbon in a knot and used a glue dot to adhere to the card.

"THOUGHTS OF YOU" - this is a close up of the "thoughts of you" card. You will need to cut out the pumpkin. I used brown ink to ink the edges of the pumpkin so it would "pop" out against the card. I also used foam tape to "pop up" the pumpkin. I tied both ribbons in a knot together. Put the brad through the ribbons and glue dot to the top of the pumpkin.

Here's the full view of the card. There is a little space between all the patterned papers.

This one was also voted as a favorite to make "Thanksgiving Day" cards.

"FRIENDS ARE FLOWERS" - Here's a close up of the "friends are flowers" card. You will notice that the pink cardstock piece and the striped patterned paper is cut with scalloped scissors. If you do not own a pair of scalloped scissors, there is a pair in the store to borrow. You can also leave these edges straight. The patterned paper circles on the flower were "scrunched". The ribbon was shaped in a "V" and glue dotted to the card. The brad is only through the circles and felt flower. I used foam tape to "pop up" the flower.

Here's a full view of the card. You will also notice that I used foam tape to "pop up" the greeting. The green piece of cardstock that was used to mat the scalloped pieces of paper is left "straight edged". Once I matted the three of them together, I had to trim a little bit off of the green cardstock.

"THINKING OF YOU" - The only tip for this card is to use liquid glue when you adhere the ric rak. This ric rak is very delicate. I would not recommend placing it through your "Xyron sticker maker". I did this the first time and when I tried to place it on the card, the felt started coming off the ribbon. **Just a little tip**.

"FRIENDS" - This card is pretty simple to make. The only tips for this one is to use liquid glue to adhere the ribbon strip. Also, I tied the patterned ribbon in a knot and then placed the brad through the knot and flower before adhering to the card.

To see a close up of each of the cards, just click on the picture and it will enlarge. We hope you guys like this blog. We have had lots of requests in the past to add photos or sketches to our kits, but decided at our last teacher meeting that we would like to give the "blogging world" a try. Please keep in mind that we are all "new" to this. I'm sure the more time we spend on here, the more we'll learn. We appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.
Next months card class will be Christmas Cards! Six different designs. Wednesday, October 17th. Put the date on your calendar! Also, set aside the following date for our first "Card Crop".
When: Saturday, October 27th
Time: 12noon to 8pm
Cost: $5.00
Includes: Snacks, drinks, and lots of Christmas card samples that will include directions on making the cards. We will also be supplying any stamps or punches that were used in making the cards. Additional items for use will be all punches that are in our "croppers cabinet" and Quikutz dies. Please bring your own ink to use. I will only be using "brown" or "black" inks. Also, bring your own basic tools to make the cards. Bring all or any types of adhesive that you own.
You may copy any of the cards that I have on display or feel free to make your own! You don't even have to make Christmas cards that day. I just felt like it was time for the card makers to have their own time to crop! I am looking forward to this day!
Have a blessed weekend!
